Terms of Service — Charting Stars Observatory

These terms are an agreement between you and Charting Stars (“we,” “us”) governing your use of chartingstars.com and any related products or readings. By using the site or purchasing a reading, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Who we are, what we offer

Charting Stars is an independent astrology practice. We provide free birth-chart previews, paid one-time natal readings, and ongoing horoscope subscriptions. Pricing, features, and tier names appear on the pricing page and may change. Existing subscriptions are honored at the price you signed up at for the current billing period.

Astrology disclaimer

Astrology is offered for reflection, contemplation, and entertainment only. Readings are not, and must not be treated as, professional advice of any kind — medical, psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise. Do not use a horoscope to make decisions about your health, your money, or your relationships without consulting a qualified human professional. Charting Stars makes no claim of predictive accuracy. You assume sole responsibility for any action you take based on a reading.

Accounts

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your password confidential, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create one. Notify us at hello@chartingstars.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

Subscriptions, billing, and renewal

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis depending on the tier you select.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us.
On cancellation you retain access through the end of the current paid period. We do not pro-rate partial periods.
Taxes (VAT, sales tax) are calculated at checkout and added where applicable.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card.

Refunds

We offer a 7-day satisfaction guarantee on one-time chart readings: if you’re not happy with the reading, email us within 7 days for a full refund. Subscription fees are not refundable mid-period, but you can cancel at any time to prevent future renewals. Refund requests outside these windows are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the service for unlawful purposes.
Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code or training data.
Resell, repackage, or commercially redistribute readings or horoscope text without written permission.
Submit deliberately false birth data on behalf of another person without their consent.
Interfere with the operation of the site, attempt to bypass rate limits, or abuse the chart calculator with automated requests.

Intellectual property

The site design, observatory styling, written content, and chart-engine code are owned by Charting Stars and protected by copyright. The astronomical calculations are derived from open-source ephemeris libraries under their respective licenses. You retain ownership of the birth data you submit; you grant us a limited license to use it solely to compute and deliver your reading.

Personal use of your own readings (saving, printing, sharing with friends or a therapist) is encouraged. Republication, commercial use, or training of machine-learning models on our content is not permitted without written consent.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Astronomical calculations depend on third-party ephemeris data; we use the best available sources but accept no liability for upstream errors. Maintenance windows may cause brief outages.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Charting Stars and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice, and we may discontinue features or the service as a whole. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimer, limitation of liability) remain in effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, unless otherwise required by your local law.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms over time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on the homepage and, for active subscribers, by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
